Location Update: The last class in this 3-class series (January 28) will take place at Studio Gracia, starting at 8:45 or as soon as possible thereafter, and will be included in the price of admission to Friday Night Blues (which is $10 for a live band, $7 for students).

Before Blues music was danced with partners, it was an expressive and varied solo art form. Whether you are a lindy hopper looking for new ideas about movement, a blues dancer expanding your knowledge of the roots of the dances, or a newcomer looking for a fun and challenging experience, this series is for you.

1. Syncopations and Shifting Tempos (Friday, January 13th, 8-9:15 p.m.)
This class will focus on syncopations and varying tempo of movement to express the rhythms and emotional intensity common to blues music.

2. Isolations and Subtlety (Friday, January 20th, 8-9:15 p.m.)
We will work on identifying and expressing the subtleties in the Blues form through isolations of the hips, hand, knees, torso and feet.

3. Xolo Blues (Friday, January 27th, 8-9:15 p.m.)
Extreme Solo Blues! This class will put it all together and have you dancing well outside of your normal comfort zone. We are going to move fast and slow, across and ON the floor. Leave your inhibitions at the door.

Your participation in the whole series is encouraged, but drop-ins are also welcome.

Pricing is $12 drop-in, $10 for students

Admission to Friday Night Blues for that evening is discounted to $3, instead of $5-7.
